FutureStack18 Berlin gathered leading German companies like FlixBus, Günstiger, Onefootball, Seven Senders, and OLX  to discuss their digital transformation journeys, specifically around DevOps and customer experience. The event, held at Academie Lounge in central Berlin on 5 December, 2018, included customer presentations, Q&A sessions, and a DevOps panel where customers shared best practices that helped their teams innovate faster and scale the customer experience.

FlixBus: About the Importance of Monitoring and Tracing for Autonomy

Eric Heymann is Vice President of Engineering at FlixMobility GmbH, the parent company of FlixBus, a “unique combination of tech startup, e-commerce platform, and sustainable transportation company” that has changed the way more than 100 million people have traveled since launching the FlixBus brand in Germany in 2013. In this 14-minute video, Heymann describes the fast-growing company’s technical and cultural journey towards self-organized and autonomous engineering teams. He addresses the role of global distributed tracing, monitoring across the entire infrastructure environment, and establishing business KPIs in helping FlixBus’ technical teams scale and innovate faster.

Fred Wynyk is a DevOps Engineer at Onefootball, “the ultimate platform for football fans all around the globe.”  In the following 18-minute interview with New Relic’s Julian Weitz, Wynyk explains how migrating to Kubernetes and implementing application monitoring with New Relic has given Onefootball full visibility into its infrastructure—which serves 10 million active users per month—and has helped them to scale much further at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, the biggest event in the company’s history.
