Last month we held our first ever New Relic user group event Down Under, in Sydney, Australia. The event was held at Anchor Hosting and attracted approximately 65 people from all industries and backgrounds.

user group speaker: william li

Will Li, senior sales engineer for New Relic, kicked off the evening with his presentation of how to get the most out of the New Relic Platform. Will’s talk focused on some of the new products New Relic has recently launched—New Relic Browser Pro, New Relic Synthetics, and New Relic Insights—and how they can be integrated with New Relic APM and the other existing products that most New Relic users are already familiar with.

Will also shared tips and tricks and covered key topics such as Apdex and alerting, managing deployments, creating custom performance views, and performance issues. Will’s awesome talk concluded with a 15-minute Q&A in which he fielded technical questions from the curious fellow data nerds in the crowd.

user group speaker: oliver brennan

After Will’s presentation, Oliver “Ollie” Brennan, senior software engineer for Australian online fashion retailer The Iconic, gave his presentation, “Using New Relic (APM): Knowing Your App!”

The crowd seemed to enjoy the socializing portion of evening, talking eagerly with their fellow users and making great connections over pizza and beer. While this was the first New Relic User Group to be held in Sydney, we hope there will be many more to come!
