FutureStack18 Twitter CardCouldn’t make it to our FutureStack18 events in San Francisco and London? No worries—we’re bringing the party to you!

That’s the idea behind New Relic’s FutureStack18 Roadshows: a series of intensive single-day events, designed especially for technology practitioners, that bring the best elements of our signature FutureStack conferences to cities around the world. Whether you’re dealing with tight travel budgets, are strapped for time, or simply want to benefit from world-class networking, training, and expert insights and still get home in time for dinner, a FutureStack18 Roadshow event is the perfect way to get the best of both worlds.

In this post you’ll find dates, locations, and registration links for our coming European and North American Roadshow events coming up over the next several months. As part of our effort to keep the Roadshows inclusive and accessible, registration for these events is always free of charge. But keep in mind that these events often reach capacity, so registrations may close well in advance.

Is a FutureStack18 Roadshow right for you?

You might be wondering if these Roadshow events will cover the issues that you care about, or if you’ll have opportunities to ask questions and interact with New Relic experts? Short answer: Yes! Technology practitioners will definitely benefit from attending a FutureStack18 Roadshow event.

First, these aren’t just cookie-cutter, “mini-me” versions of our flagship FutureStack events in San Francisco, London, and Sydney. Every Roadshow stop is a little different and unique in some way; many, for example, will feature expert guests and New Relic customers from the surrounding region.

Plus, the Roadshow’s local/regional nature helps create a more intimate environment for networking—for example, lowering the language barriers attendees might face at larger events that attract global audiences.

Inside the Roadshow agenda

FutureStack18 Roadshow content is designed to pack a lot of information into a single day; sessions move fast, hit hard, and focus on content with proven value to practitioners.

Roadshow sessions typically fall into three categories:

  1. Cutting-edge insights. New Relic practitioners and invited experts share the latest information and best practices for cloud adoption, DevOps, digital transformation, and more. These sessions are great opportunities to learn more about advanced concepts that you’d like to try out within your organization.
  2. Customer success stories. Discover how other organizations partnered with New Relic to solve their most pressing cloud, DevOps, and digital customer experience issues. Roadshow events also offer opportunities to catch up with other New Relic customers during the course of the day.
  3. Demonstrations and product briefings. For many of the practitioners who attend Roadshow events, the opportunity to learn more about the latest New Relic product capabilities is a personal high point. One reason? Many demonstrations are conducted directly by the New Relic product managers and technologists who actually built the products!

While the program for each Roadshow event varies depending on location, speaker lineup, and other variables, you can count on an informative and inspiring keynote session, breakout sessions covering specific technology and development challenges, multiple opportunities to check out demos and tech presentations, and plenty of time to network with your peers and other experts.

Roadshow sessions: The many faces of innovation

The speakers and presenters at our Roadshow events are every bit as accomplished and knowledgeable as those speaking at our signature FutureStack events. (In fact, there’s quite a bit of overlap.) Consider a few examples of what—and whom—you’ll find during some of our upcoming Roadshows:

At our New York City Roadshow on October 30, you’ll hear from top practitioners such as John Celenza, Cloud Architecture Engineer from IBM Cloud, who will share an inside look at how IBM relies on New Relic to help deliver a world-class cloud experience.  In addition, senior staff from New Relic’s engineering teams will lead “New Relic on New Relic” sessions—discussing the use of database containerization and self-driving deploys to boost application performance and reliability in New Relic’s own production environments.

During our Paris Roadshow on October 18, Aurélien Capdecomme, CTO at media firm 20 Minutes, and Samuel Michaud, Web Manager at Canal+, will share their experience leading their firms through technology transformations—a major theme for companies looking to capture the benefits of the cloud and of modern software development methods.

In Stockholm on October 24, key New Relic experts such as Product Management Director Alberto Gomez and Director of Digital Intelligence Neil MacGowan will join practitioners such as Aurelius Valeis̆a, Web Development Director for Boozt.com, and Twill DevOps Engineer Jeroen Zeegers to provide practical insights into how organizations derive value from modern development tools and tactics.

Our Amsterdam Roadshow, scheduled for October 31, features another set of top practitioners from the New Relic user community, including Pivotal Software Director of Marketing Michael Coté and Maxeda DIY Group Development Lead Arjan Franzen, sharing insights from their organizations’ New Relic experiences.

A FutureStack18 Roadshow bonus: New Relic certification

Given the practitioner-oriented focus of our Roadshow events, many attendees will be interested in New Relic technology certifications. That’s why New Relic is sponsoring full-day NRU Certification Workshops in select Roadshow cities, typically held the day before the main event.

These are hands-on, instructor-led workshops, where you’ll get acquainted with the finer points of the New Relic platform and practice your skills with exercises throughout the day. Best of all, at the end of the day, you can take your exam and earn your certification on the spot—the ultimate in one-stop shopping for busy technology practitioners.

Something for every practitioner

Who can benefit from a FutureStack18 Roadshow event? The IT pros who attend New Relic events run the gamut from traditional operations and development practitioners to those holding newer titles like site reliability engineers, DevOps leaders, and cloud architects.

No matter what your job title, however, software development is a team sport, pulling from roles across the organization to keep your business competitive and to deliver great customer experiences. Leveraging modern software technology such as the cloud, microservices, containers, container orchestration, and distributed architectures is essential to success, but so is transforming your organizations to use DevOps, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and other modern approaches so you can take full advantage of that technology.

If these types of issues matter to you and your organization, then don’t think twice. When a FutureStack18 Roadshow event comes to a city near you, make sure you take the opportunity to expand your knowledge, sharpen your skills, and learn how your peers and colleagues are solving today’s toughest technology challenges.
