Solving hard problems. That was the theme and it was a packed house at the Rackspace::Solve conference in San Francisco this week.
The event focused on new cloud technologies that are solving the most difficult and pressing problems for anyone who wants to innovate faster, get to market faster, and take advantage of new technologies.
Managed cloud company Rackspace invited New Relic CEO and founder Lew Cirne to sit down with Rackspace CTO John Engates to talk about Big Data, software analytics and New Relic Insights, our new real-time, big data analytics platform that collects, stores, and presents data from software in production to make it easier to answer tough business questions. It turns out, Lew told the crowd, that software provides great data on what customers are doing that can be invaluable for running your business.
In the video below, Lew describes how New Relic customers are using software analytics to solve hard problems. Two very different examples make it clear just how powerful New Relic solutions can be.
Fixing Healthcare.gov got started, Lew said, when New Relic received an email with the subject line: “WH Needs Your Help.” The White House was working on perhaps the most important APM problem ever: Letting millions of Americans sign up for healthcare coverage. Within two days of that initial Sunday conversation, Lew recalled, hundreds of people were using New Relic to get real data about the site’s troubles so they could start solving them.
Nordstromrack.com │HauteLook, meanwhile, is an e-commerce company selling top fashion and lifestyle brands. Over a five-week period, HauteLook was able to use New Relic Insights to reduce downtime at its new state-of-the-art fulfillment center by more than 80 percent. Insights helped the company streamline its operations to more efficiently ship the tens of thousands of orders it receives daily.
But Healthcare.gov and HauteLook are only part of the story. See the rest in the video below:
