Attendees at FutureStack18 in San Francisco this week arrived with high expectations—and they weren’t disappointed. Hundreds of New Relic customers and partners gathered for our flagship event’s signature mix of hands-on training, new product releases, and thought leadership around some of the most important modern IT opportunities and challenges.Signage at FutureStack18

New Relic founder and CEO Lew Cirne opened FutureStack18 by describing an IT profession tasked with leading a dramatic, $52 trillion transformation to a digital economy defined by how companies create, compete and deliver customer experiences. As Lew pointed out, this epic shift compels businesses, and the IT teams that serve them, to master the science of acceleration: moving faster to innovate, to build and release software, and to win the race to deliver superior customer experiences.

Lew’s keynote guests, including executives from IBM and Gannett‘s USA Today Network, offered practical insights into how some of the world’s most successful firms have partnered with New Relic to master the realities of today’s “acceleration imperative.” Other customer-focused FutureStack18 sessions, which included the likes of Amazon Web Services, Adobe, Gap Inc., and Change Healthcare, revealed how these companies count on New Relic to be able to quickly and confidently deploy cutting-edge innovations in cloud, DevOps, microservices, containers and container orchestration, and serverless technologies.

Throughout the sold-out event, New Relic product experts and engineers contributed their deep expertise and insights into dealing with these challenges. In many cases, they cited New Relic’s own efforts to work faster, smarter, and in ways that the world’s best IT practitioners actually want to work. And a keynote appearance from James Governor, co-founder and CEO of developer-focused analyst firm RedMonk, offered his no-hold-barred take on digital transformation.

As the awesome after party at Spin wound down late in the evening, it was clear that FutureStack18 delivered on multiple levels:

  • Providing a clear-eyed, strategic view of the fast-changing business and technology landscape.
  • Offering hands-on guidance for IT experts tasked with helping their companies to transform, compete and succeed.
  • Inspiring and enabling us all to do our best work at this key moment.

If you couldn’t make it to the event in San Francisco, don’t worry, there’s lots more FutureStack on tap this year. We’ve got full-scale FutureStack events scheduled for London on October 2 and Sydney on October 17. Plus we’re holding FutureStack Roadshow events in more than a dozen cities around the world.
