We all know that FutureStack is next week and it will truly be amazing! So what more could we add to this smorgasbord of awesome? How about some fun and fitness?
Earlier in my career I was heavily involved with the Eclipse project, and its annual gathering EclipseCon. Years ago we came up with the idea of meeting before conference sessions for a early morning run. Several of us were going out every day anyways; why not head out as a group and invite those who may not be as familiar with the local running routes?! This type of tradition can be seen at many other events, including DjangoCon, RailsConf, OSCON, and DrupalCon.
Our goal is to gather a group on Thursday and Friday to run through the city streets of San Francisco. We’ll meet in the lobby of the Grand Hyatt, our FutureStack venue, at 6:45 am each morning. Runners of all abilities and preferred speeds are welcome to join. The course will be an out-and-back down Market to The Embarcadero so that we can stay coordinated and hi-five each other!
Why run at FutureStack?
- Get the opportunity to meet other attendees and get to know them better.
- Be wide awake and ready to focus on the outstanding talks FutureStack has to offer.
- See a little more of San Francisco than just the conference venue.
- Burn off some calories from the great food and parties at FutureStack.
Next week we’ll use Twitter to coordinate and gather the group using the #FS13Fitness hashtag. If you have any questions, please send me an email,
Let’s get our fitness on!
