FutureStack, New Relic’s global user conference, is coming to Australia in October … not once but twice! That’s right, we’re holding FutureStack18 events in Sydney on Wednesday, 17 October and also in Melbourne on Friday, 19 October.

The two conferences will share essentially the same program, so our Australian customers should feel free to attend the one that is most convenient for them. And we do mean feel free—to make it possible for a wide variety of New Relic customers to attend, registration at all FutureStack18 events is free of charge.

Accelerate to the Future

Like all our FutureStack18 conferences, the theme for both Australian events is “Accelerate to the Future,” and both offer attendees the opportunity to discover the latest insights and best practices for cloud adoption, DevOps, and digital transformation. Both feature inspiring speakers from New Relic, as well as customers, partners, industry thought-leaders, and cloud experts.

In addition, both events will be preceded by all-day New Relic University training sessions designed to boost your product skills and help you quality for New Relic certification. And, of course, both Sydney and Melbourne will include a wide variety of New Relic product demos and networking opportunities with fellow New Relic users, technical experts, and sponsors including Amazon Web Services, Sumo Logic, PagerDuty, and Solista.

Here’s a detailed rundown of what’s on tap for our Australian events:

Things kick off the day before each event with New Relic University Certified Performance Pro Hands-On Workshops. We’ll address the essentials of application performance monitoring (New Relic APM) in the morning, then delve into the entire New Relic platform in the afternoon, covering New Relic Insights dashboards, New Relic Infrastructure, cloud monitoring, and more.

The event days begin with an inspiring keynote from Aaron Johnson, New Relic Senior Vice President of Product Management, describing New Relic’s Platform for Modern Times. You’ll hear him expand on the themes raised by New Relic Founder and CEO Lew Cirne at FutureStack18 San Francisco, including the four pillars of a world-class observability platform.

Then Jeremy Kelaher, Solution Architect, Enterprise Digital Services at SBS, will take you inside the Challenges in Delivering a Multi-Platform Experience at Scale for the FIFA World Cup 2018. He’ll be followed in Sydney by Ben Salt, GM Platform and Reliability at Xero, whose presentation on Business Value at Startup Speed will share Xero’s DevOps evolution story. In Melbourne, we’ll continue the sports-at-scale theme with Robert Lupone, Head of Technology, Service Delivery at Tabcorp, who will share his insights on Scaling for An Incident-Free Melbourne Cup, The Race that Stops the Nation.

Rounding out the morning, a panel of New Relic customers will discuss their real-world digital transformation experiences, lessons, and takeaways during Legacy to Leading Edge: Transforming Your Digital Business.

In the afternoon, FutureStack18 attendees can choose from two session tracks:

Track 1: Secrets of High-Performing Modern Software Teams

Track 2: Cloud, Distributed Systems, and Modern Technologies

Both tracks are packed with concise, to-the-point presentations from New Relic experts like Nic Benders (Chief Architect and VP, Engineering), sharing the inside story of how New Relic has scaled to cope with our growth, as well as from customers like Telstra, Tabcorp, MYOB, Ladbrokes, Atlassian, and AWS sharing ways to build better software faster. You’ll walk away with hard-won lessons and best practices on:

  • How to manage distributed systems and dynamic infrastructure effectively
  • The habits of high-performing modern software teams that enable you to ship faster, smarter, at scale
  • On-call and deployment strategies to improve velocity and reliability
  • Cloud migration tips, tricks, and lessons learned
  • Practices and innovations in AI, DevOps, machine learning, and analytics
  • Insights on driving digital transformation in the enterprise

The speaker lineup even includes a pair of New Relic experts signing free copies of their books. It’s your chance to meet Sean Kane, co-author of Docker: Up and Running and Lee Atchison, author of Architecting for Scale. Then, at the end of the day, relax and swap tips and tricks with fellow attendees over drinks and appetizers.
