FutureStack14, our user and tech conference scheduled for October 8th and 9th in San Francisco, has now filled out an awesome roster of speakers. Perhaps the highest profile addition is our closing keynote speaker, OK Cupid co-founder and best-selling author Christian Rudder, who will put the entire event in perspective with his keynote talk titled Dataclysm: Who We Are (When We Think No One’s Looking). Based on his book of the same title, Dataclysm is described as an audacious, irreverent investigation of human behavior—and at a revolution in the making.
Rudder still runs OKCupid, one of the world‘s biggest dating sites in the world, and helms a small data-mining team that digs up key trends on important websites. In addition to a major feature in the New Yorker, Rudder’s research has shown up in The New York Times, Harper’s, and The Atlantic.
Of course, that’s not all.
Docker founder Solomon Hykes will join New Relic founder and CEO Lew Cirne’s closing keynote on The Future of Modern Software. And Mitchell Hashimoto, founder of Hashicorp and creator of popular DevOps tools like Vagrant, Packer, and Serf, will be presenting on the Technology Track about problems faced by modern data centers, and how the right tool can help tame the problems of rising complexity.
We’ve also rounded out a pair of fascinating panels. Our Fireside Chat on The Next Thing You Will Be Doing with Cloud features Rackspace CTO John Engates and Daniel Sturman, senior Engineering director for Google Cloud Platform. Moderated by Re/Code senior editor Arik Hesseldahl, the panel will cover everything from DevOps to next-generation analytics. Find out what you should already be planning, and get ideas you start implementing right away.
You’ll also get to meet The New Kids on the Block, Three Startups at the Forefront of Disruption. New Relic VP of engineering, APM Darin Swanson will moderate a panel featuring Kevin Klein, VP of engineering at BloomThat and Tyler McMullen, CTO of Fastly.
And that doesn’t even count the New Relic Track, where lead software engineer Brent Miller will present a fascinating exploration of how interfaces shape our world in unexpected ways we don’t always recognize. Meanwhile, Shaun Gordon, New Relic VP and Chief Security Officer, will take us through an instructive—and hilarious—tour of security failures throughout history.
