First launched back in May, our Android app version 1.5 now lets you create and deploy a variety of different plugins to optimize your entire app environment via New Relic Platform. That means all the plugins that you create and manage through the New Relic web dashboard will be available to monitor through your Android device as well.
We added SAML/SSO support because it’s been an important feature request from many of our customers. Large enterprise firms especially need to keep their data secure, and with the proliferation of BYOD, a feature like SAML is increasing in importance. Although the flow of the application is briefly interrupted to authenticate a new account through SAML, we believe that the security benefits are well worth this interruption.
Now every account a user is associated with will be checked to see if it requires SAML authentication. If yes, then they will be directed through an SSO login to gather all the needed tokens for authentication.
