Hang out with New Relic at PyCon 2014

PyCon, the largest annual gathering for the Python community, is fast approaching, with tutorials starting on April 9th, followed by the main conference on April 11th. As usual, there’ll be a great lineup of conference talks across many experience levels, as well as a number of helpful tutorials, workshops, and sprints that attendees can contribute to.

New Relic is looking forward to participating in the workshops again this year, especially yours truly, who will be presenting on the topic “Measure all the things” on April 10th at 5:15pm (right before the conference’s opening reception). The workshop will cover a number of monitoring-related topics, everything from the fundamentals of metric collection and event data to how the New Relic agent instruments your applications. For existing users of our Python agent, we’ll also be describing how you can build on top of the instrumentation we provide and collect even more information about what your application is doing.

The workshop will conclude with a Q&A session. So if you’re an existing user, we’d love for you to drop in and provide us some feedback on how we can make our agent and the instrumentation we provide for the various web frameworks even better. (Plus, stopping by will give you a way to be “fashionably late” to the opening reception!).

If you can’t make it to the workshop this year, be sure to stop by and visit the New Relic booth in the expo hall. We’ll be there providing demos, handing out our new “data-rrific” t-shirts, and helping folks deep dive into what their Python web applications are doing. We can also answer any questions you might have about New Relic’s Python-related features, including:

    • Support for Python 3
    • Monitoring of ASYNC applications
    • Monitoring of non-web applications

Once you’ve spent the first couple days at PyCon expanding your knowledge, you’ll likely be ready to let loose a little. The New Relic After Party is a perfect place for that. We’ll be serving drinks, desserts and more, so come out and mingle on April 11th at 7pm at L’Auberge Saint Gabriel (details below).

New Relic has been sponsoring and hosting workshops at PyCon for the last couple years, and we’re never disappointed by the great activities and sessions that the conference organizers manage to setup each and every time. We look forward to hanging out with the Python community, and hope to see you there!

Also, a friendly reminder: Although this PyCon is the main conference for the United States, this year it’s actually being held in Montreal, Canada. So if you’re registered and need to travel north from the U.S., be sure to have your passport in order.
