Leading Independent Research Firm Highlights SaaS APM and New Relic Leadership

IDCWe know there’s a new generation of native cloud and mobile applications out there.  IDC has released new market research on the tools that make sure those applications are serving the business well.

Their findings?  SaaS-based application performance management (APM) solutions have a big role to play and are providing rapid innovation and growth in this area.  They especially highlighted those that emphasize intuitive UIs, deep analytics, smooth integration, and scalability. And, the IDC research calls out New Relic as a leader.

The newly released “IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Production APM Software as a Service 2013 Vendor Analysis” takes a look at qualitative and quantitative measures for scoring vendors in the space.  The idea is to provide a framework for tech buyers to independently compare product and service offerings on factors that the folks at IDC see as important to current and future market success.  Then (of course), IDC comes up with single, graphical chart plotting out the various market participants.

What were those specific key attributes?  IDC says the vendors that will be most successful in the worldwide production APM SaaS arena will be those that can deliver:

    • Rapid time to value via unified, intuitive graphical user interfaces
    • Advanced yet accessible analytics
    • Seamless integrations across service modules, and
    • Ever-increasing scalability in terms of the scope, breadth and depth of coverage.

We’re pleased to note that New Relic’s vision and product offering aligned well with the IDC criteria.  In addition, the IDC report noted that New Relic was “gaining increasing interest from enterprise-scale organizations that valued a simple-to-deploy solution and easy-to-navigate user interface that can be easily accessed by production IT operations teams, developers, and business stakeholders.”

IDC also talked to New Relic customers, who gave us “high marks for its speed of deployment, low overhead, solid documentation, responsive customer support and intuitive visuals and graphics. They also valued the service’s ability to accommodate a wide range of application types.”

We will have a complimentary copy of the report, IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Production APM Software as a Service 2013 Vendor Analysis (Doc# 243716) dated October 2013, available from our website shortly.  In the meantime, check out our press release here.
