The 2015 Velocity conference is only now kicking into high gear, but the Nerd Bowl 0x7df kickoff event has already established a high bar for great fun and serious networking in an awesomely cool environment.

Hundreds of Velocity attendees descended on the Levi’s® 501® Club at Levi’s® Stadium Wednesday night to enjoy top-shelf libations, tasty stadium treats, and innovative swag combining football themes with New Relic design flair.

The unique environment extended outside the stadium—the dramatic home of the San Francisco 49ers—where the event was displayed on the venue’s high-tech signage for all to see:

Upon entering, New Relic hosts—dressed as referees—welcomed partygoers:

They handed out some sweet swag (foam high-five hands, helmets, and footballs), which quickly got folks in the party mood:

On a perfect Silicon Valley evening, many attendees enjoyed drinks and snacks with a sunny, unobstructed view of the field, including New Relic on the giant scoreboards:

Paul Owen from SRC Computers was especially enjoying the event. “It’s really nice up here!” he said:

Meanwhile, inside the venue, many attendees took a break from the tunes spun by DJ Jayceeoh to do some networking and socializing at birds-of-a-feather and game tables. At some tables, people got together to teach each other the rules to games like DevOps Against Humanity!

A few lucky VIPs even got special swag and a tour of the stadium, including a visit to the field, the 49ers locker room, and the 49ers Gold Rush cheerleaders locker room. No players or cheerleaders, but check out those lights and mirrors:

Many attendees were new to New Relic, while others were fans. “I love New Relic,” said Jonathan Pauli from Context Media in Chicago. “It’s a game changer!”

Either way, everyone loved the custom Nerd Bowl t-shirts, made on-site (you could use the Venue Next Levi’s® Stadium mobile app to skip the crush):
