As we often say here at New Relic, every business today is a software business. But what actually happens when a company undergoes a digital transformation to embrace that new reality? The answer varies from company to company, of course, but one constant is an organization-wide emphasis on meeting—and exceeding—the customer’s digital expectations.
At online gift marketplace DaWanda, for example, the move required fostering an engineering-driven culture—one in which business goals are established and addressed through the development process itself (as opposed to after the software has been shipped).
So explained Jason Green, DaWanda CTO, speaking as part of a panel at FutureStack17: Berlin, moderated by New Relic’s own Oliver Manojlovic. Joining Jason and Oliver on stage were Robert Ginda, head of online shops at 21sportsgroup; Matthias Schmidt, head of development at DFL Digital Sports; and Jesko Thiele, senior mobile developer at ImmobilienScout24.
Jesko doubled down on the importance of “not taking the users’ needs for granted.” And all four speakers noted the crucial role of deep visibility into your company’s customer experience, application performance, and dynamic infrastructure in order to manage a successful digital transformation.
