New Relic Buys Ducksboard to Bolster Data Integration and Visualization

On the eve of FutureStack14, our second annual user and technology conference, I couldn’t be more excited to announce that New Relic has completed our first-ever acquisition: we’ve purchased Ducksboard, a privately held startup based in Barcelona, Spain, that helps customers visualize and monitor data in real time from multiple data sources in a single, beautiful dashboard.

Spanish SaaS expertise

Founded in 2011 by Diego Mariño, Jan Urbański, and Aitor Guevara, Ducksboard’s expertise and cloud-based technology will contribute to New Relic in two key ways. First, it will help expand our ability to integrate business-oriented data from a variety of leading Software-as-a-Service application sources. And second, it will work to further enhance New Relic’s data visualization prowess. Ducksboard has built integrations with 65 applications, including Google Analytics, Twitter, MailChimp, Stripe, WordPress, salesforce.com, Zendesk, and many others, including New Relic. Their work is a great match with our vision of providing businesses the data insights they need quickly and easily to help make faster, better-informed decisions.

Ducksboard customers can easily build widgets and customize their dashboards with data from SaaS services and their own internal apps. Over 700 Ducksboard customers have created more than 50,000 dashboards. Optimized for large screens, Ducksboard makes it easy to connect all your SaaS apps to create a display of your company’s progress. In the short term, New Relic plans to continue selling Ducksboard’s existing product and support its existing customers, including those in free trials.

A strategic fit for building a software analytics data cloud

Strategically, the Ducksboard acquisition supports New Relic’s focus on providing a real-time software analytics data cloud for the enterprise—collecting, storing, and analyzing an increasing variety of data from customers’ own software as well as real-time business analytics information. Ducksboard has already done the hard work of bringing in data from 65 data sources that can be shown alongside New Relic data. Meanwhile, synergy between the design knowledge of New Relic and Ducksboard will pave the way to products for both business and technical customers.
