Hi Chris,

I'm sure that as a performance company you have a lot of interesting technologies and metrics that you use. Probably stuff like that are interesting for the community.

Thanks for this nice YSlow getting started post, it's good to keep spreading this knowledge to newer and not-so-newer developers, although Souders came up with this rules 5 years ago the web is not a faster place yet, is it?
Could you please update 4 links on this post that are pointing to the old
developer.yahoo.com/yslow
, Yahoo! no longer maintains YSlow, the official URL is
yslow.org
.
Use the following snippet to find them
document.querySelectorAll('a[href*="developer.yahoo.com/yslow"]')

Thanks,
@marcelduran

Hi Andy,

You are absolutely right that these rules have been around for a while and YSlow has a solid history. Quality work certainly stands the test of time.

This post was intended to bring attention to how much work we can do on the outer edges of our applications versus work done in the app and database layers. ~80% of response time is spent on this outer edge.

Also, a lot of newer developers haven't seen the great work by Souders (and many others), so we wanted to highlight a tool that many of us take for granted.

I'd love to hear topics you'd like to see more of on our blog.

Thanks,
chris

Considering that most of these rules were explained back in 2007 by Steve Souders from Yahoo!, 5 years ago, how is this post relevant and sustaining your image as a performance oriented company ?
