New Relic is pleased to have joined the W3C consortium. As a company that collects billions of frontend, middle tier, and backend metrics daily, we are particularly interested in standards around browser performance and overall web performance. The Resource Timing specification, for example, when implemented will allow more detailed reporting for key browser performance metrics, such as detailed drill down of page load time — individual assets loaded, external service performance and more. This information should greatly help organizations optimize the web experience for their own users and in the process make the web faster for everyone. Stay tuned for additional updates as we share our experiences and knowledge with the consortium members and become more involved in the formulation and refinement of specific standards.
