Y CombinatorAs a startup, New Relic knows how important it is for young companies to ensure superior performance for their business-critical web apps. That’s why we are working with Y Combinator to give early-stage startups the tools for success. Through a special program, New Relic makes RPM Gold available at no cost to Y Combinator’s pre-”A” round portfolio companies, giving them an edge when it comes site performance, initial customer adoption and next-stage venture funding.

Y Combinator is a new kind of venture firm specializing in funding early stage startups. It helps founders transform business ideas into companies. Y Combinator invests mostly in software and web services—organizations for whom web applications are a critical function of the business.  New Relic RPM enables development and deployment teams at these companies to monitor Java and Ruby on Rails web application in production, identify the root cause of performance problems, and optimize app performance over time.

Many Y Combinator alums have used New Relic RPM to get their initial web applications up and running at peak performance and continue to use RPM today. These include Scribd, Justin.TV, Heroku, CloudKick and Posterous. Companies in the Y Combinator program that are currently taking advantage of RPM’s performance monitoring and management capabilities include Seeing Interactive, Zencoder, and Cardpool.

“Y Combinator is an amazing program. One of the most valuable parts of our experience there was the sharing of best practices with fellow technology-based businesses,” said James Lindenbaum, co-founder of Heroku, a leading cloud application platform. “We’ve built a powerful yet easy-to-use deployment platform that our customers love, and New Relic is one of those best practices we use every day to deliver the smooth customer experience that has become a hallmark of our solution. We believe so strongly in its value, we’ve worked closely with New Relic to make RPM available to our customers.”

Brandon Arbini, Co-founder of Zencoder, an online service for easily converting videos into usable web and mobile formats, today said “Y Combinator has provided us with tremendous expertise and guidance as we’ve started building our business. What sets Zencoder apart is its ability to provide fast, reliable online service for users who are processing video files. New Relic RPM is an important tool that helps us make sure we’re meeting our customers’ high expectations for web application performance and availability.”

Taking advantage of this offer is simple. Y Combinator portfolio companies can sign up for RPM Lite and within minutes have access to real-time application performance data. Those that have not yet received “A” Round funding may upgrade to RPM Gold, our highest subscription level, at no cost for six months or until they receive their “A” round of funding, whichever comes first. Eligible companies should send an email to partners@newrelic.com and New Relic will reply with a promotion code for the upgrade.
