This week, we are announcing that Webficient, a web development company based in Northern California, has integrated New Relic RPM into the Amazon Machine Image (AMI) they provide on EC2. We are very pleased about the work Phil Misiowiec and his team have done here because the AMI they have created has is the only 5-Star rated (Best user feedback) AMI designed for Ruby on Rails on EC2.

When you use Webficient’s AMI to deploy your application, you can automatically create a free RPM Lite account and monitor your app within minutes. The RPM agent plugin is already there so implementation goes from really simple to ridiculously easy. If you already have an RPM account you can enter your license key and you get connected to your existing account.

As more web developers make the move to Amazon and other cloud providers, they will need to have the tools monitoring and troubleshooting their apps making the move with them. RPM has been designed to operate in the same “elastic” fashion as the cloud, automatically connecting and monitoring your app instances as they are started up, so it’s the perfect complement to the pre-configured stack like the Rails AMI Webficient has created.
